„Deep love” the newest film by Jan P. Matuszyński won “Silver George” for the best film of the documentary competition. Our film competed with seven other films qualified for the Documentary Competition. The films were evaluated by the jury consisting of Sean McAllister - the chairman (Great Britain), Amir Labaki (Brasil) and Alina Rudnitskaya (Russia).
“Deep Love” shows story of Janusz, a self-confident 60-year old, an incredibly active person and an accomplished diver, suffers a stroke which leaves him paralysed. Rehabilitation and assistance of his partner Asia help him regain mobility and improve his functions. He is still struggling with speech and the only person who understands what he says is Asia who interprets him for the world. What keeps Janusz going and motivates to carry on is his big dream – he would like to dive again, despite major hazard for his health and life. His goal is to travel to beautiful but perilous Blue Hole in Dahab, Egypt which poses a challenge even to fit divers.
DEEP LOVE is Jan P. Matuszyński feature documentary debut. Film was produced by Marta Łachacz – Cor Leonis Production, Anna Wydra – Otter Films (www.otterfilms.pl) and Izabela Łopuch – HBO Europe (http://www.hbo.pl/). Project was developed within Dragon Forum and DOK Leipzig in 2012.
